As I sit here mulling over some of my notes from devotions today, something really stood out to me. Beth Moore was discussing the fact that we will all face battles in our lives. The Bible makes that clear. She said, “You can choose if you will be a warrior or not, but you DO NOT get to choose if you are at war.” We are all at war. “Until you see my beautiful face, you will fight a beautiful fight.”
Are you fighting a beautiful fight? Or is your fight ugly, foolish and unnecessary? We have made tribulation out of irritation! We are allowing things to distract us and interfere with our relationship with God and the impact we have on the world around us. The enemy doesn’t mind you having religion, he doesn’t want you to have a relationship! And he really doesn’t want us changing lives by how we live ours.
PRIDE! It always comes back to pride (my biggest struggle)! What if we could humbly hand over every conflict to God? Big or small. Then, God not only molds our character to be more like His through our trials but gives us the ability to sustain that character. That’s how we can be effective. That’s how we can change this world. Fight the beautiful fight.
“Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses. And I charge you before God, who gives life to all, and before Christ Jesus, who gave a good testimony before Pontius Pilate, that you obey this command without wavering. Then no one can find fault with you from now until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.” 1 Timothy 6:11-14
